Who is saul leiter ?

Saul leiter is an american photographer (1923-2013) who started his professional career in the mid 1940s in new-york city, where he lived most of his life.

he is considered to be a pioneer in colour photography, when only black & white was perceived as valuable and interesting. he mostly practiced street photography, shooting strangers and passers-by, without ever aspiring to become famous.

he also worked as a fashion photographer until the late 80s, more specifically for the magazine harper’s bazaar for about 20 years.
